Hello everyone and welcome back to another Hermitcraft Christmas Game, 2021 edition!
"Uh... what's this Christmas game about?"
The simplest explanation: guess the hermit(s) according to a puzzle. With each puzzle, the hermit head(s) will be placed (as an ornament) on a Minecraft Christmas tree. The game ends when all the hermits are on the tree!
You're more than welcome to read more about this game (history, concept etc) in my introduction blog post!
And since it's 2021, this game will be based on Hermitcraft Season 8. Now, put on your thinking cap and get the one brain cell cracking! Let's gooooo!!
P/S Answers will be revealed after each puzzle. So be sure not to scroll too fast if you want to guess! :D
The first puzzle is to test your Minecraft crafting recipe knowledge:
Yup, that's spruce planks. SIX spruce planks, to be exact. What can you craft using only six spruce planks in Minecraft?
"Trap doors? Door...? And this is the confused Nick Young meme..."
Yup, it's the Australian Minecraft YouTuber, Pearlescentmoon!
She's one of the newest addition to Hermitcraft and wow, even Keralis is fanboying her. Fun fact: Pearl is the backbone for some of Grian's mega builds in the past! But do you know what she's best known for, particularly in Hermitcraft Season 8?
Her confusing doors! It's so confusing, I cannot help but create a montage of it on YouTube:
I posted this video on Reddit and I got a comment from a fellow Aussie:
As an Australian, I can confirm this is how our doors work.
Aussie aussie aussie, oi oi oi!!!
Moving on to the next puzzle! This time, guess two hermits from the random screenshot below:
"There are two horses... with a wheat farm next to it?"
The Horse Head Farm bros: xBCrafted and Hypnotizd! Watch the best moments on YouTube:
Now, our fourth hermit... is a special one. Guess this hermit based on the poem below, written by me:
The strongest hermit: Strength, more often physical, Though for him it's who he is by heart. In mundane times, his positivity, for never failing to entertain. In difficult times, his courage, for never running away from his fights. And in all times, his optimism, for always the good times. -hermitcraft.snippets
For all the good times, no other than Scar. The most courageous, positive Minecraft YouTuber!
You may wonder why I attempted poem writing and why it sounded... emotional. At the time of this game, I found out about Scar's life update on Instagram. He was once again admitted to the hospital for an infection.
"Hang on. He's admitted... "again"?"
Yes, again. If you aren't aware, Scar is diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease that confined him to a wheelchair and wears an external oxygen pipe. His body was prone to sickness and hospitalisation felt like an annual routine.
Despite the adversity, Scar persisted in creating high-quality content and collaborated very frequently with his fellow hermits. Above all, his videos never once hinted at his pain; if anything, they are wholesome and reminded one of all the good times.
Now that's the spirit we should all learn from this man. All the optimism, positivity and courage!
The Instagram community launched a Scar appreciation day, in which I participated and created the montage below:
And to end this tribute, I've prepared an epilogue to the poem:
Scarred for life, he may say, Though to me, it's healing, And therefore fundamental to growth. GoodTimeWithScar, as described by Grian, Only ONE good time with Scar, But it starts at the beginning and never ends. -hermitcraft.snippets
Not gonna lie, I'm getting a bit emotional there! :') I'm considering another blog post solely on Scar, the poem and its montage, so do keep an eye on this Minecraft blog!
Now, let's get back to our Christmas Game... Guess two hermits!
"Uh... pretty ending? Pretty The End?"
Yup, that's iJevin and WelsKnight for decorating the SMP's The End dimensions!
Our next puzzle:
"Is that... Minecraft? It's broken?"
Who else breaks Minecraft better than the GOAT of Hermitcraft... docm77!
Docm77, a German Minecraft YouTuber breaks Minecraft... and occasionally his partner, Rendog. Watch the snippets below to find out!
Since we're on Doc, might as well revolve the next puzzle around him too...
"Whoa... that's fat-shaming haha! That's not very nice... Doc ain't that heavy! Oh, wait."
Yes. The cheeky hermit who teased Doc is fat is... Zedaph. That's just Zedaph being... Zedaphy.
This happened when they all played Cub's Leaf Spleef tournament. Doc happened to fall to the ground and an earthquake happened soon after. So Zedaph is right, yeah? Right???
Anyhoo, a YouTube shorts for this groundbreaking discovery (pun intended):
P/S this is one of my most successful YouTube shorts AND Instagram reel, with 13k views and a whopping 110k views respectively. Woohoo!
Now, let's guess the next hermit:
"Hmm... who loves losing though? Losing in a war because of a... house?"
Yes, the tree war at the very start of Hermitcraft Season 8. Who else but Mumbo Jumbo!
Now, the following puzzles would test your knowledge on... Hermitcraft Season 8 shops!! Guess two hermits based on the meme below:
"Huh? We have a hermit who's selling... ego?? And another hermit's shop is based on this hermit's ego???"
You can say this is... egoception!
Alright, that's a bad pun. Continue guessing, please.
Shops based on ego? The Great and Greater shops by Gemini Tay and False Symmetry!
These swamp shops are false gems, everyone. Another pun intended, thank me later ;)
Moving on to the next hermit's shop:
"Do you mean "funny" shop name?"
No. It's punny. Literally.
Hermitcraft Season 8 is the season of puns. But no one beats punniest shop names other than ImpulseSV!
My personal favourite is... Lichen and Subscribe. Get it? Get it??!! Lichen and Subscribe to hermitcraft.snippets YouTube channel too :)
Wanna see the tree so far? Here you go:
A bit empty, yeah, because we're only halfway through the game! Stay tuned for Part 2 and get prepped for more Hermitcraft Season 8 knowledge: the big moon lore!
P/S you may have noticed there are 2 additional heads on the tree. That's because I rearranged the puzzles for story-telling conveniences.
I hope you're enjoying the guessing game so far. Feel free to chat with me for any comments, opinions etc. Till then, see ya!
