This all started from EthosLab's Hermitcraft 10 episode 6, where he found a set of Etho Statues perched in front of SmallishBean's (Joel) base.
Etho mailed Joel, teasing that he's worried of the British Minecraft YouTuber's obsession of him:
We were left in a cliffhanger until Joel uploaded his POV a few days later.
Joel was surprised to see the statues and denied building them. He then pointed his fingerless finger at GeminiTay, claiming she's obsessed with her fellow Canadian Minecrafter.
Gem *almost immediately* came over, and hilarious interaction ensued:

Later in the same video, Joel asked Etho over and (attempted) interrogating whether it's Etho who built the statues himself.
Joel asked the question *twice*, and Etho diverted the question *twice*. While the ninja did not admit erecting them, he did not deny them either.
So. Did Etho really built the statues himself?
It does feel like an Etho thing: you know, Etho Etho'd other Hermits.
There's a YouTube comment pointing out the design resembles Etho's style. Etho once said he liked building in smaller scale because it's more challenging to detail them.
Plus, what are the chances that Etho is the first Hermit who discovered the statues? This reminds me of Hermitcraft Season 6, where Mumbo first discovered a mysterious rocket and then pondered out loud who built it... hrm...
Fast forward 1 week later, we see another set of statues in front of Joel's base... This time they were Joel's statues.
Who built them? Etho!!!
Note:
Okay, technically, Etho built them somewhere close to Joel's place. Joel decided to relocate and slightly tweak them at the entrance to his base... Right where the Etho statues used to stand.
At this point, it's only logical that Etho is, in fact, the rapscallion who built the statues in the first place. Who else would have replicated the same building style and level of detail... if not the sculptor himself?!
Not to mention he has the Sharingan... *ahem* He's not called the copy ninja for no reason, just saying *ahem ahem*
We can only wait for Etho's next upload. Can't wait!
